Venus in Fur
April 1 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm
$18 – $25
The Garage Theatre proudly kicks off their 23rd season with VENUS IN FUR, written by David Ives and directed by Alexandria McGinness, in her Garage Theatre directorial debut. Running now through April 15th, 2023, Venus in Fur stars two Garage favorites: Matthew Anderson as Thomas and Emily Formentini as Vanda.
Venus in Fur follows the electric exchange between Thomas, a self-assured playwright and Vanda, the mysterious actor who comes to audition for him. As the lines between the audition room and the world of Thomas’ play begin to blur, we explore the complexity and timelessness of our deepest secrets and desires. It’s raw, it’s sexy, and yet unlike anything you’ve ever seen at The Garage Theatre. This play is for mature audiences only; it explores intense sexual themes and BDSM.
Located in downtown Long Beach, The Garage Theatre is a black box theatre, founded in the belief that independent non-commercial theatre is vital to the future of the art form. They are run by a collaborative ensemble that strives to create a diverse body of work, take artistic risks, and uncover social and human truths, and are committed to reaching a new theatre audience by producing affordable works in a unique voice.
